Augustus Does His Bit

The Ellice Theatre, January 31 to February 4, 2012
Artwork for Augustus Does His Bit

Merlyn Productions opens its 2012 Season with the uproariously funny one-act comedy that George Bernard Shaw called his "true-to-life" wartime farce!

Meet Lord Augustus Highcastle: brilliant, handsome and capable (not to mention modest and self-sacrificing), as he would happily remind you from the daring command of his writing desk. Who better to trust with the super-secret list of Allied gun emplacements?

An obstinate, over-age clerk who would rather be on the front lines and a beautiful woman with a hidden agenda complete the recipe for comic disaster. With allies like these, who needs enemies? We hope it all turns out well in the end – for our country's sake!

Part of the ShawFest 2012 Master Playwright Festival.

"It would be strange indeed if I had not mastered the art of public expression. Even the Radical papers have paid me the high compliment of declaring that I am never more impressive than when I have nothing to say."
— Lord Augustus Highcastle
